In November/December 1974, Trungpa Rinpoche gave a six-talk seminar in Boulder, Colorado on his root guru, Jamgon Kongtrül of Shechen. This 17 minute segment is excerpted from talk five. All six talks can be listened to, in their entirety, here.

The tone of these talks is highly personal and direct. The Vidyadhara stresses the contemplative tradition of Jamgon Kongtrül and the highly personal aspects of the teacher-student relationship as relevant to practitioners in the West.

Also of interest, Trungpa Rinpoche composed a devotional sadhana to Shechen Kongtrül in 1967 known as the Sun of Wisdom. Read more about the Sun of Wisdom here.

One day in the early 1970s, Trungpa Rinpoche decided to bury treasures on Mount Tamalpais. Here is Sam Bercholz's account of that expedition.
As you'll hear in the clip, a photograph was taken on that day (perhaps by George Holmes) of Rinpoche and friends on Mount Tamalpais. If you have this image or if you know who might, please let us know.
This clip is excerpted from a longer conversation, recorded in 2004, in Boston. Other voices heard on the recording belong to Hazel Bercholz and Walter Fordham.
